Janet’s Bio:
To introduce myself … I am the author of “janetanncreations.blogspot.com,” a retired school nurse and a part time quilt teacher at QuiltCorner Studio in Sandwich Massachusetts. I travel across the region to quilt guilds giving lectures and workshops- sharing my love of quilting!
In 1983 my passion for quilting started – with the purchase of my first Bernina and making a sampler quilt – Using scissors, cardboard templates and hand stitching (it was way before rotary cutters!) Those where the days!! I still have my original quilt – it’s well-worn and loved! After that first quilt I took an extended quilting hiatus! In 1998 Alex Anderson came into my home via Simply Quilts, seeing different quilter’s and their styles and techniques – motivated me to start up my quilting again – it’s been non-stop ever since! In 2006 while stitching with a group of four other ladies – we decided to start a quilt guild – because after all – how hard could that be, and the Silver City Quilt Guild in Taunton was founded! A year later we held our first show!
My quilts have been displayed & juried into AQS Quilt Week shows in Paducah, Syracuse, Des Moines and Chattanooga; Houston International Quilt Festival, Road to California; Mancuso New England, Home Machine Quilt Show; NEQM Images Show and The Quilter’s Gathering. Winning awards along the way!
Today there is a special room(s) in the house set aside just for quilting – my sanctuary! When I have a bad day I quilt it away and when I have a good day I quilt with it! Not sure where my quilting will take me … but for now I’m happy playing with fabric and sharing my knowledge with others!
